Autumn lands

As summer turns inexorably to autumn this beautiful wool overcoat from 150 year old British brand New and Lingwood really caught our eye. The herringbone cloth with flecks of oranges, greens and burgundy couldn’t shout autumn any louder and this is a piece that will become a staple not just this autumn but for years to come. Not cheap at £1250 but a true inheritance piece.

Hairy suede

Something else we’re loving right now is this brushed suede tote from Loewe. They clearly believe the hairy fabric trend isn’t going anywhere because they also carry these great chelsea boots in the same material. One bugbear though is that they tell you almost nothing about the fabric. Tannery? No. Grade? Nope. Whether it’s veg or chrome tanned? Absolutely not! When a brand is asking you to stump up £1000 and more for a product it shouldn’t be too much to ask for a little honesty about what exactly you’re buying.

If these prices are a bit too high then this suede tote from the Arket women’s section is a great alternative at £279. And if your budget doesn’t stretch that far then don’t forget about the old faithful canvas tote from Daunt books that you can pick up for just £10.
